Chris Nizzardini Political Info:

Who are you as a candidate?

As a candidate, I am a person with a flare for politics that will run an honest and trustworthy campaign.  My only interest is doing what is the right thing to do.

Why were you willing to run for office?

I have the necessary concern for our state and county, and I made the time to do what must be done.

What do you feel you offer the voters in your race?

I offer a promise not to abuse the powers and benefits that come with public service. I won't steal money to pay for gas, I will not accept a government vehicle, and I won't use taxpayer money to wash my car (see Guzzler-Gate Scandal involving former County Auditor and County Officials). A vote for me is saying you are dissatisfied with the status quo and would like to see change! My campaign represents the only real opposition to the same parties who continue this cycle of exploitation every election. This campaign is an act of protest against the current governing mechanism, as well as a point of awareness for voters. I'm offering voters the chance to put someone more like them on the inside.

What does Personal Choice mean to you?

Personal choice to me means individual liberty. It means a state of being free, and the right to do with that freedom as you wish as long as your not violating another's equal rights to exercise personal choice and individual liberty.

What issues are most important to you?

I would like maintain the county's Triple A credit rating and hold the line on government spending. Keeping our government fiscally responsible, even though our state is solidly Republican we have the 9th highest tax rate in the nation, and I think we can do better. Increasing open government, no more secret "smoke filled room" meetings, I would work to pass laws banning this undemocratic practice. Opening up the political process for parties besides the Democrats and Republicans, this means more political diversity. Criminal justice reform is another big issue, we spend too much on locking up non-violent offenders, we can improve our criminal justice system while saving tax dollars at the same time. Other issues that are very important to me are increasing individual liberty, making Salt Lake County more desirable for business, and making sure we keep the environment in mind.

How would you apply Personal Choice to the issues you mentioned?

Personal choice relates to the individual, and in my duties as County Auditor I would be sure not to trample the liberties that come with personal choice. As a democracy it was not necessarily our choice to see county officials abusing their power or holding secret meetings involving millions of dollars, that's one choice by politicians in the beltway that I will work to end, it's just a personal choice of mine to be honest and up front with people.

In what matters do you feel you should have more Personal Choice rather than Government involvement?

I think we should have more involvement in education and how much of our gross pay we are able to go home with.
